Typical Film Noir Audiences;

Film Noir originated as being a popular film genre within Hollywood. The classical film noir period is generally regarded as extending from the early 1940s to the late 1950s.

Within these years men became the main audience for Film Noir films and would have visited the Picture house as they would have called it to view a film with friends after a hard weeks work. Men are the main audience as the films are dark and gloomy, with smoking, violence and murders and topped off with a 'sexy' Femme-Fatal which all together attracted men to the genre. These factors would not particularly attract women because they look for different aspects within a film and these aspects would not usually fit them.
